Lookout point

At Stockholm-Arlanda’s lookout point near Runway 3, you can watch aircraft take off and land from close up – aircraft pass at eye level when they land from the north. You can also take a swim in Lake Halmsjön, just beyond the lookout point.

Many people come to Stockholm-Arlanda without flying anywhere. They come simply to watch the planes. Together with the Swedish Aviation Historical Society (SFF), Stockholm-Arlanda has built a lookout point for all aviation enthusiasts, young and old.

Rain shelter and swimming

The lookout point is located on a hill alongside Lake Halmsjön, on the road toward Almunge/Norrtälje right near the northern end of Runway 3. Taxiway W, which is used by aircraft to get to and from Terminal 5 and the other eastern parts of the airport, goes just past the hill.

There is a large rain shelter with seating on the hill. On the other side of the lake, you will also find a small beach area where you can take a refreshing swim.

Directions (by car)

Take road 273 toward Almunge/Norrtälje (signs posted from the main entrance and from Märsta). Turn left immediately after the second taxiway bridge, by the sign Skogsvägen (‘Forest road’) and Utsiktsplats (‘Lookout point’). The hill is on the right. There is parking up on the hill.

Directions (by public transport)

Take the Stockholm transport (SL) bus 583, Märsta-Arlanda, and continue past the terminals. If you are boarding the bus at the terminals, travel toward "Arlanda." Get off at the Skogsvägen/Östra Hangarvägen bus stop, which is located just below the hill and is the final stop on the bus route.
