• Increased coordination creates the airport of the future [2012-01-18 15:08] Sweden is a leader when it comes to developing airports with the least possible environmental impact. For instance, Stockholm Arlanda pioneered a number of innovations in air traffic management that help to reduce carbon emissions. Now the airport, in partnership with the Swedish Transport Administration and Viktoria Institute, is taking further steps to reduce its environmental impact while making door-to-door travel for air passengers more predictable and sustainable.

• Expanded air service between Sweden and Ireland

  Beginning this March, there will be an expansion in air service between Sweden and Ireland as the Irish carrier Aer Lingus launches operations between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Dublin. Aer Lingus last flew to Stockholm Arlanda in 2002. Flights will now run four times a week with Airbus A320 aircraft.

• World’s largest aircraft on visit to Stockholm Arlanda

  The world’s largest aircraft landed today at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The aircraft is an AN-225 six-engine jet. Air cargo is an essential requirement for Swedish imports and exports, with more than 20 per cent of the total value of Swedish exports handled today by air cargo. It is also an important component for passenger airlines – since air cargo in the baggage hold is a key contributor to the profitability of long-haul carriers.

• Record year for Stockholm Arlanda Airport

  Never before have so many passengers flown via Stockholm Arlanda Airport. In 2011, the number of passengers exceeded 19 million for the first time. The previous record was set in 2000, and a major reason this record was surpassed is the growing number of foreign visitors coming to Sweden.

• Check-in available at Uppsala and Gävle Central Train Stations

  Air travellers can now check in at the transit hall at the Central Train Stations in Uppsala and Gävle. With check-in already completed at the train station, passengers need only drop off their baggage, go through the security checkpoint and head to their gate.
