“We have informed the Swedish Competition Authority in writing that we do not intend to carry out the previously planned change at Stockholm-Arlanda. Instead, we are now working to develop a different solution to satisfy both the airport’s environmental objectives and its passengers’ needs,” says Jan Lindqvist, Head of Corporate Communication at Stockholm-Arlanda.
In the original proposal, Stockholm-Arlanda wanted to give taxi companies with the greatest demand their own lanes at Terminal 5. The company using the largest number of environmentally clean cars would get the lane closest to the terminal. However, the Swedish Competition Authority ruled that the new layout would make it more difficult for smaller companies to increase their market share.
“We have studied the rulings of the Swedish Competition Authority and the Swedish Market Court and are now developing a new solution to boost customer satisfaction among the airport’s passengers and minimise the environmental impact of aviation operations,” Lindqvist says.
