Increased focus on customers and the environment for taxi travel at Stockholm-Arlanda

On March 23, 2010, Stockholm-Arlanda Airport will implement changes in its system for calling taxis in order to give priority to ecotaxis and reduce the number of taxis that arrive at the airport with no fares. The new rules are expected to gradually increase the number of ecotaxis at the airport and make it easier for travellers to select a taxi company.

Stockholm-Arlanda is engaged in intensive efforts to minimise the environmental impact of airport operations, which also include traffic to and from the airport. One step in this work is to have 100 per cent of all taxis at the airport be ecotaxis by July 1, 2011. This change will take place in phases so that all taxi drivers have time to switch to “green cars”. At the same time, Stockholm-Arlanda also wants to enhance customer satisfaction among travellers at the airport and provide taxi companies with a favourable competitive environment by introducing a system for taxi stand lanes that will make it easier for travellers to choose the taxi company they want to travel with.
