Stockholm-Arlanda Airport’s collaborations – a prerequisite for the airport

Stockholm-Arlanda is an integral part of the region where the airport operates. This is why it is very important for us to join with partners in efforts to develop the Stockholm region into the obvious choice for business people, travellers and visitors to Scandinavia, thereby strengthening Stockholm’s role as “The Capital of Scandinavia”.

Here you can read more about the various collaboration projects that the airport belongs to. In some cases, the English name of an organisation stated after its Swedish name is our own unofficial translation.

Arlanda Logistic Network

Cargo and freight forwarding are important elements of Stockholm-Arlanda’s operations and play a significant role in the Arlanda region. For those market players that work in the logistics industry, directly or indirectly, there is an established network. Here they collaborate on matters concerning accessibility, the environment, training and marketing.

Gateway Stockholm

Stockholm-Arlanda Airport collaborates with the Ports of Stockholm for the purpose of helping make the Stockholm region the leading logistics hub in the Baltic Sea region within a decade. Gateway Stockholm is a forum where companies, organisations, political leaders and officials can exchange ideas and work towards common goals. Gateway Stockholm collaborates closely with the Council for the Stockholm-Mälar Region.

Mälardalsrådet (the Council for the Stockholm-Mälar Region)

Stockholm-Arlanda Airport belongs to the Infrastructure Group of the Council for the Stockholm-Mälar Region, whose task is to generate knowledge and coordination on regional infrastructure issues. The aim is to identify important regional projects and prioritise these in preparation for future government bills on infrastructure. To further strengthen the role of infrastructure issues, the airport participates in the task of developing regional development plans both for Stockholm and Uppsala.

Together with surrounding municipalities (Sigtuna, Upplands Väsby, Vallentuna, and Knivsta) as well as the respective regional planning offices in Uppsala and Stockholm, Stockholm-Arlanda is working in an EU project to strengthen the business community in regions close to airports. The project is based on analysing and exchanging experience concerning business development directly or indirectly connected to airports. The objective for the Arlanda Region is to develop a joint programme of action for business development.

Other participating regions are Härryda (site of Göteborg-Landvetter Airport near Gothenburg), Barcelona and the Canary Islands (Spain), Glasgow (Scotland) and Ostend (Belgium).

In 2005 Swedavia, formerly LFV, and Stockholm-Arlanda Airport signed a sponsorship agreement with the Swedish Olympic Committee. Tourist industry

Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is also active in a number of marketing initiatives aimed at attracting travellers to Stockholm and the Lake Mälaren region. The airport has a representative on the Board of the local tourism company Sigtuna Turism AB, which includes Congress Arlanda, and in the steering committees of two other convention-promotion ventures – Congress Uppsala and Congress Stockholm.

In addition, the airport participates in a joint venture for the development of cruise traffic to Stockholm.
